DAILY WARM-UP 11/27/10: Furry Beast

Today's daily warm-up is a continuation of my warm-up from 11/24/10 of a demon. I wanted to see what it would have looked like with hair, and well, here he is. I spent about an additional hour and forty-five minutes on him, building off the hour and a half demon face I did on 11/24. Above, the beast has stripes, but below is without stripes... Which do you prefer?

Here is the greyscale...

Here is the process beginning with the demon into the furry beast...

Here is a detail of the striped version...

Here is the original demon I did as a warm-up on 11/24/10 in case you forgot...

DAILY WARM-UP 11/22/10: Goblin

Here is today's daily warm-up, a goblin creature. Spent about 1 hour and 45 minutes on this guy. Check out below to see the grayscale image. I always enjoy having one in grayscale as it gives an old black-and-white horror film feel.

And here is the process from beginning sketch to final color....

KOSARTeffects on DeviantART

A couple days ago, I added a bunch of work to my Deviant Art site. I plan on keeping it more current. In today's day, so much is focused on social networks, it is very difficult to give each a healthy amount of attention. As soon as I sign up for one, it seems that there is another and another that just started. Anyway, check out my Deviant Art site when you get a chance and don't forget to add me to your Deviant Watch!!!

DAILY WARM-UP 11/18/10: Hunchback

Today's Daily warm-up is a hunchback that I spent about an hour and 45 minutes on. Here again is the painting process to from start to finish... I think I may revisit this one sometime as I feel I lost some of the abnormality and character in the quick rendering process, such as the brow and cheek...

DAILY WARM-UP 11/17/10: Zombie

Today's daily warm up is of a Zombie. This one ended up being really quick, about an hour and a half beginning to color finish. Here he is in grayscale....

Eventually I would like to get a program that records what I am painting into a speed-painting time-lapse video, but until I figure that out, here is a frame by frame painting process...

What was I for Halloween???

I always get asked...

"What are you going to be for Halloween?"

Usually, I'm too busy with others' Halloween to think about my own, having just finished my 2011 Halloween masks last week and doing some freelance make-fx work on other people for Halloween and for a Photography Class (will post pictures when I get them). However, on the night before Halloween and without much thought, I quickly painted my face like a werewolf before I went out. I HAD to be something!! No prosthetics in this one, just 2D Face Painting with a few Photoshop additions! Take a look below at the original facepaint (left) and the quick tweaks in Photoshop (right) to make a cooler picture . . .

Maybe next year I will have more time between projects to work something up for a crazy costume... but if not, I still have fun wearing one of my masks or doing a quick face-painting or make-up FX on myself!! ... and if I get a few scares, which I always do, Halloween is even more complete. BEWARE!! lol.
